Well known medieval performer and educator and Sunshine Castle resident Knight, Sir Justyn, is set to stage his ‘Skill at Arms’ mini medieval Olympics including ‘The Archery Challenge’, ‘Royal Junior Jousting Games’ and ‘Sir Justyn’s new Trebuchet toss’. Be sure not to miss the Canon fire opening and closing ceremonies or the weapons and armour talks. Sir Justyn brings history to life and appears to have an answer for even the tricky questions.

The Storyteller extraordinaire Lord Stephen of Landsborough loves inviting you to join him as he recounts the stories of travels and travellers, knights, kings and legends. Find out about princesses, castles, battles and medieval magic.
May there be a story that grabs your imagination and beams you back in time. Perhaps you will be asked to kneel and recite the knight’s oath. A lucky few will be knighted indeed.

For the creative kid royals, join the fun on Castle Craft days where the Courtyard transforms into a big arts, crafts and games mecca. DIY Crowns and some great BIG games will keep the young and the young at heart busy with royal business.

The Sunshine Castle is open 9:30 am to 4:30 pm daily during Queensland School Holidays with the self guided tour around the Castle and its exhibits that range from medieval displays and educational history shields to high look -out towers, a great hall for festivities, a dungeon to fear as well as relicts of the Castles original doll and fairytale displays. The Castle Treasure Hunt offers three different quests while exploring the Castle at your own pace, with a treat from the Kings Treasure Chest upon completion.

HEAR YE! Sunshine Castle will be moving to seasonal opening times

HEAR YE…The Sunshine Castle will be moving to seasonal opening times

From the first of July 2017

  • During All Queensland School Holidays, Public Holidays and Weekends – 9:30am – 4:30pm
  • During School Term:  Mondays Closed and other Weekdays 9:30am – 3:30pm

The Sunshine Castle after 10 years of operating 7 days a week has decided to move to a model of seasonal operation. The experience gained during this decade has given us a basis on which to determine optimum opening hours. As a small family business in the tourism, hospitality and event industry we are making this choice to offer our business increased flexibility and opportunity.

The off season Mondays during the school term that will be closed as a rule to the public – will offer a new opportunity for conferencing groups, film teams and other  exclusive use venue hire opportunities to groups, schools and individual celebrations. We are happy to talk with you about your needs.

This move will also allow staff and management time to work on the business, new ideas and products as well as create a work lifestyle balance vital for a small team.

The Sunshine Castle management is proud of the longstanding community and industry support it has received and is confident there will be smooth transition to the new opening hours. We are also most grateful for the support that we have received from the general public as we celebrate 45 years as a Sunshine Coast Tourism Icon. We hope to see you all at the Castle soon..!!
